Welcome to What’s Happening at BCS!
Last week, Berowra Christian School combined with Liberty College on a tour of our Nation’s capital. The students had a wonderful time learning more about our country’s history and government. They also enjoyed a fun filled day at Perisher where many got to see snow for the first time, make snowmen and enjoy a friendly snowball fight. The students can be commended for their excellent behaviour and being great ambassadors for the school.
Soccer Metro Cup
After qualifying through the Small School’s Gala Day, the Junior Boys Soccer Team represented Berowra Christian School at the Soccer Metro Cup in Penrith. The level of competition was high with teams from 16 independent schools being represented. Our boys played well and continued to develop their ability to work as a team. After three tough pool games our team progressed to the quarter finals only to be beaten in the dying minutes. Congratulations must go to our boys for a fantastic effort and achievement.
The Christian Inter-school Debating Competition (CIDCOM) has once again commenced. It is always wonderful to be part of this competition as it is a wonderful opportunity for the senior students. They get to meet students from other school, develop research and speech writing skills and practice speaking in front of a range of audiences. All the students involved have shown amazing dedication and effort, and have been wonderful ambassadors for the school. Due to their hard work they won their debate against Toongabbie Christian College, convincing the adjudicator and audience that, ‘Every family should have a pet.’ We wish the team well as they prepare for their future debates.
State Cross Country
On the 1st June, our team of 22 students competed in the CSSA State Cross Country. It was a fantastic day and it was so encouraging to see each of our students run with determination and perseverance. It was particularly encouraging to see the huge improvements that some of our students had made from last year as a result of them setting goals and training hard. A special congratulations to Ben of Year 3. Ben, who lives with spina bifida, made everyone at Berowra Christian School very proud with his amazing effort at completing the course and qualifying for the Combined Independent School’s (CIS) State Carnival later this month.
Swimming Carnival Fun
Last Thursday, 22nd February, the Berowra Christian School community came together to encourage, support and celebrate the wonderful efforts of the children at our annual swimming carnival. It was a joy to see every child being cheered whether they were coming first or 8th. This behaviour was a wonderful reflection of the students living out our school’s core values of ‘Respect,’ ‘Best Effort’ and ‘Kindness’. These values were also evident when the students in Kindy and Year 1 competed in their novelty races supported in the pool by their older partner.
Thank you to all the parents who helped on the day. We wish the students going to Zone all the best as they represent BCS.
A New Year
The staff of Berowra Christian School pray that all current and past families have had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year. Please note that the school’s Enrolment Day is on the 29th January and formal classes will commence on the 30th. Families should receive their Parent Handbook and other information shortly.
