Fresh Food Fridays

Since 2008 BCS has offered ‘Fresh Food Fridays’ where our children have been able to order a variety of healthy and nutritious meals. These are based on the Green, Amber and Red food categories in compliance with the NSW School Canteens Association. Many of the recipes are found on their website.

The FFF Team

FFF is organised by our FFF Co-ordinator, Jodie Hazlewood and Jodi Dagan, who are supported by an excellent team of volunteers. From the beginning of 2010, we have had a brand new kitchen facility ensuring we have ample space and equipment to provide a variety of healthy choices for children enjoying a school lunch.

What’s on the Menu?

Here is just a sample of what we’ve been making for our energetic and hungry students:

 Provisions from the Back Door

An integral part of our beyond curriculum activities includes teaching students the foundations of developing a healthy and thriving vegetable garden. The children love being outdoors in the sunshine, digging, planting, watering and watching their efforts produce amazing results.

Due to all this hard work, we have also been able to incorporate fresh vegetables into our meals from time to time straight from the garden. Convenient, healthy and a great way to start kids off young with a love for all things home-grown and natural.
